Cajatambo: car that fell into an abyss left three dead and three injured on the Poquián-Copa highway

A fatal accident left three dead and three others seriously injured during the early hours of this Tuesday in the Lima province of Cajatambo. The accident occurred on the Poquián-Copa highway, in an area with difficult access, where a vehicle ended up at the bottom of an abyss.

According to the police report, the car in which the victims were traveling lost their way near the Tumac bridge and fell approximately 200 meters into the void. The first investigations indicate that the unit would have flipped several times, causing some occupants to be thrown out of the windows.

Access to the accident area is a rural area that is difficult to reach, which is why the rescue efforts took longer. The vehicle was found completely destroyed at the bottom of the abyss.

Injured

The three injured people were emergency evacuated to the Barranca Hospital, where medical personnel evaluate their condition to determine if they require referral to other more complex centers. Meanwhile, the deceased were transferred to the Legal Medical Division of the jurisdiction to carry out legal examinations.

Meanwhile, authorities continue to identify the other fatalities and injuries. At the same time, the Police are investigating the causes of the tragedy.
