Caja de Profesionales and the Ministry of Labor create a working group to deal with proposals with solutions

The Board of Directors of the Caja de Profesionales agreed with the government to create a working group which will address, with technical support, a series of proposals presented today at the Ministry of Labor, which aim to provide a solution in the short and medium term to the economic situation that the institution is going through.

The proposals and ideas, developed by the board of directors that took office on December 14, were presented this Tuesday at a meeting that took place in the office of Minister Pablo Mieres, in which the Sub Secretary of Labor Mario Arizti, the director of OPP, also participated. Isaac Alfie, along with advisors from the MEF and OPP.

On the occasion, the directors Daniel Alza, Blauco Rodríguez, Fernando Rodríguez Sanguinetti, Luis González and Gerardo López expanded on the two scenarios with changes in parameters in which the CJPPU has been working to improve the situation of the institution.

“These changes require approval by law. One of the proposals has an immediate effect as of its approval and another has a more medium-term effect as of its approval”, said Daniel Alza, interim president of the Caja’s Board of Directors, at the end of the meeting.

As reported, each of the points presented “go with its corresponding economic, financial and future impact study,” Alza said.

The short-term measures include increasing income, either by raising the asset contribution rate or with the participation of retirees, while, in the long term, “it is proposed to go towards corrective measures in the parametric system, that is, , the retirement age, the basic retirement system, the replacement rate, as well as improving some benefits that the assets have”, explained the interim president of the board.

He also announced that for 4 weeks joint work will be carried out with technicians from the Ministry of Labor and the Fund to add and evaluate more ideas.

The interim president admitted that the changes to reform the social security system and in particular the Caja de Profesionales, “are not nice measures”, but they are convinced that the solution “must come from the professionals themselves”.

“We are working to give the Caja greater viability in the short and medium term”, Alza said and explained that another of the proposed measures is to go from 10 to 15 de facto categories, where the jumps are smaller and from that form “protect the lowest categories, which is when the professional begins to work”.

As reported by Blauco Rodríguez, general secretary of the Institution, they will be approximate jumps of between $1,000 or $2,000 and in some cases less than those figures. “We want it to be a friendly box with the affiliate,” Rodríguez said and advanced that “none of the proposals was rejected by the Ministry.”

And I add: “We have faith that this challenge that we took on when we presented ourselves for the election knowing the critical economic-financial situation of the Caja, we will be able to carry it out, achieving the transformation that the institution needs to update itself to the current situation of the country’s professions today. today, which is clearly not the same as when the Caja was created”, concluded Dr. Blauco Rodríguez.

On the occasion, Arch. Fernando Rodríguez Sanguinetti presented a proposal to expand the contribution base based on the new professionals who work in dependency from the year 2023. The proposal, made personally, does not have actuarial information, so will continue under study.
