Caixa concludes distribution of almost R $ 13 billion of FGTS profit

Caixa starts distribution of almost R $ 13 billion FGTS profit

Workers with the FGTS Time Guarantee Fund (FGTS) finished receiving on Monday (28) the distribution of nearly $ 13 billion from the fund’s profit in 2024, informed the Caixa Econômica Federal. Traditionally held in August, the distribution was anticipated for the end of this month.Caixa concludes distribution of almost R $ 13 billion of FGTS profit

The reference value corresponds to the balance of each account on December 31, 2024. Those who have more than one account will receive credit in all of them, respecting the proportionality of the balance.

According to Caixa, the anticipation was possible because the FGTS curator board published on Friday (25) to Resolution with the approval of the fund’s balance sheet in 2024.

On Thursday (24), the FGTS Curator Council approved the distribution of R $ 12.929 billionequivalent to 95% of the fund’s profit last year, the amount is divided proportionally among quota holders. The higher the balance of the account linked to FGTS, the more the worker will have to receive.

To find out the portion of the profit that will be deposited, the worker must multiply the balance of each account on his name on December 31 last year by 0.02042919. This factor means that, in practice, every $ 1,000 balance, the quota holder will receive $ 20.43. Those who had $ 2,000 will have credit of $ 40.86, with the amount rising to $ 102.15 for those who had $ 5,000 at the end of 2024.

Performance

The percentage of the profit that would be passed on to workers was defined on Thursday by the Board of Trustees and equals 95% of the profit of R $ 13.61 billion obtained by FGTS last year. The distribution of profit will increase FGTS performance this year to 6.05%, greater than the official inflation of 4.83% by the National Consumer Price Index (IPCA) in 2024.

Even winning inflation, the FGTS yielded less than the savings account. Last year, savings yielded 6.41%, influenced by the Selic rate (basic interest rates of the economy). When basic interest rates are above 8.5% per year, savings yields 0.5% per month (6.17% per year) plus the referential rate (TR).

By law, FGTS yields 3% per year plus the Referential Rate (TR). However, the distribution of profits – existing since 2017 – improves fund performance. Credit – Traditional income plus the distribution of profit – is incorporated into the account balance.

In 2024, the Federal Supreme Court (STF) ruled that the Fund should have minimum correction By the National Consumer Price Index (IPCA), but the correction is not retroactive about the stock of accounts and is only valid from the publication of the outcome of the trial.

If the result of the distribution of profit per worker and the income of 3% per year more to TR is smaller than inflation, the curator board is required to define a form of compensation for the correction to reach the IPCA.
