Caio Bonfim is the world champion of the 20 km of the athletic march. The achievement was confirmed early in the early hours of Saturday (20), in Brasília time, in a race in Tokyo. Caio Bonfim won the race with the time of 1:18:35, followed by Chinese Zhaozhao Wang (1:18:43) and Spanish Paul McGrath (1:18:45). Matheus Corrêa (AABLU-SC) finished the race in 17th (1:21:04) and Max Batista, 42nd (1:27:34).
In the female race, Viviane Lyra was the 12th place, with the time of 1:29:02, and Gabriele Muniz (CASE-DF) ended 32º (1:34:28). Érica Sena (Pinheiros-SP) abandoned the race after the third kilometer.
The achievement turned the athlete into the largest medalist in the country into worlds. There are four medals in eight editions played: bronze in London-2017 and Budapest-2023 in 20 km, and silver in the 35 km won on the first day of the World Cup (12/9).
Brazil has 19 podiums in worldwide. There are three golds: the conquest of Brazil in 2025, Alison dos Santos, 400 meters with barriers, in Eugene-2022, and Fabiana Murer, in the jump with stick, in Beijing-2015. This is also the best campaign in Brazil in Worlds, with one gold and two silver: in addition to the two medals of Caio Bonfim, Alison dos Santos became runner-up of 400 meters with barriers.
