Daniel Caggiani, Senator for the Popular Participation Movement (MPP), echoed the data published by the Ministry of the Interior on the number of crimes.
The graph presented by the portfolio is that corresponding to the first quarter of the year (January-March). Specifically, compared to the data for the same quarter but for the year 2021, homicides rose by 33.3%; thefts 3.2% and domestic violence 11.2%. For its part, robberies fell by 6.3%, while cattle rustling also fell, by 16.3%.
Given the increase in crimes, Luis Alberto Heber expressed: “We are comparing ourselves with ourselves, this quarter with the same in 2021.” Later, he compared the figures with those of the previous two years (2019 and 2020), in which a drop was reflected.
“We have numbers where there is an increase in homicides this quarter and there is a small increase in thefts. On the other hand, there is a considerable drop in robberies, which consolidates the work that the ministry does with respect to the fight against this crime.” Then he added that “there is an increase in domestic violence and the decline in cattle rustling is consolidated,” the hierarch remarked.
Caggiani’s word
In relation to this, it was that Caggiani stated that «The lack of political leadership in the Ministry is evident, with #LUC In force and with the return of mobility, homicides, reports of domestic violence and reports of theft increased again in the first three months of the year. There is nothing to celebrate.”
Meanwhile, Charles Carrera was another of the opposition political actors who echoed the figures. The MPP senator expressed that «Homicides, according to the Ministry of the Interior, increased 33% in the first quarter of 2022. A scenario that we have been warning about since July 2021 and that requires a Minister who leaves triumphalism and Chicanas to take charge.”
