Caged: Brazil creates 328,000 formal jobs in February

Average salary readjustment was below the INPC in December

Brazil closed the month of February 2022 with the creation of 328,507 formal jobs, according to the balance of the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Novo Caged), presented today (29) by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.Caged: Brazil creates 328,000 formal jobs in February

The February balance resulted from 2.013 million new hires and 1.685 million dismissals. According to the folder, it was the best result for the month of the series started in 2010, second only to 2021, when the balance was 397,915 posts.

According to the ministry’s executive secretary, Bruno Dalcolmo, this was the first time that the monthly total of admissions exceeded 2 million vacancies, considering the series with declarations made within the deadline. The secretary, however, pointed out that the result cannot be considered structural and that the tendency is for a reduction in hiring.

“What we see here in February 2022 from an admissions perspective is something important to note. For the first time we are above 2 million hires. Of course, it is not possible to say that it is something structural and that it will remain at that level,” he said. “We have already registered that it is natural to expect some deceleration in relation to last year’s hiring level. It is a natural process, companies will not continue to hire at that pace of last year forever,” he added.

The figures show that, in the month of February, the five groups of economic activity had a positive balance, with emphasis on the services sector, with the generation of 215,421 new jobs with a formal contract, distributed mainly in the activities of public administration, defense and social security. , education, human health and social services.

The general industry ended the month with 43,000 new jobs, especially in the manufacturing industry, which generated 38,575 jobs. Construction ended the month with 39,453 new jobs. Next come agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing and aquaculture, which generated 17,415 jobs; and commerce, with 13,219 posts.

With the result of February, the stock of active formal jobs stood at 41,157,217 jobs, a positive change of 0.8% in relation to the stock of the previous month. In 2022, the balance recorded is 478,862 formal jobs, resulting from 3,818,888 admissions and 3,340,026 dismissals.

Wage

Data from the new Caged also show that the average admission salary in February 2022 was R$1,878.66. The value is lower than that recorded in January, with a decrease of R$ 61.14, which is equivalent to a variation of -3.15%.

intermittent work

In February, the new Caged registered 25,396 admissions and 16,568 dismissals in the intermittent work modality, generating a balance of 8,828 jobs.

There were 5,287 contracting establishments and 36 employees signed more than one contract as part-time workers.

“From the point of view of economic activities, the balance of employment in the form of intermittent work was distributed among: services (6,906 posts), construction (1,115 posts), general industry (422 posts), agriculture (207 posts) and commerce ( 178 posts)”, informed the folder.

Regarding part-time work, 26,104 admissions and 16,586 dismissals were recorded, a balance of 9,518 jobs. 9,493 contracting establishments were registered and 158 employees signed more than one contract on a part-time basis.

The balance of part-time employment was distributed as follows by sector: services (5,615 posts), general industry (2,286 posts), commerce (1,167 posts), construction (241 posts) and Agriculture (209 posts).

Regions

In February, 25 of the 27 Federation Units closed the month with a positive balance of jobs. The highlights were: São Paulo, with 98,262 stations; Minas Gerais, with 36,677 new jobs; and Paraná, with 28,506 posts.

The states with the lowest registered balance were Amapá, which had a positive balance of 158 stations; followed by Alagoas and Paraíba, which had a negative balance, that is, closed 600 stations and 1,451 stations, respectively.

Among the regions, the Southeast closed February with 162,442 new jobs. Then comes the South, with 82,898 jobs; Midwest, 40,930 stations; Northeast, with 28,085 stations; and the North Region, with 12,727 stations.
