Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero will arrive this Sunday in Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in the High Level Segment of the 49th Session of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council.

Within the framework of the event, which will take place between Tuesday and next Wednesday, the head of Argentine diplomacy will give a speech and, in addition, will meet with the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights,

The country is represented in that position by Ambassador Federico Villegas Beltrán.

“Argentina values the key role played by the Human Rights Council at a global level in the construction of a better institutional framework, as well as in the generation of initiatives that allow the promotion, protection and progressive development of human rights to continue” , highlighted the Foreign Ministry.

In a statement, the Palacio San Martín stressed that “the presence of Foreign Minister Cafiero accentuates the enormous commitment that his new mandate as a member of the Council for the period 2022-2024 implies for Argentina.”
