Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero received the new ambassador appointed by the Republic of Chile to Argentina, Bárbara Figueroa, who gave him copies of the credentials that accredit her as a representative in our country, to begin her diplomatic functions.

During their first meeting, the diplomats discussed the state visit that the Chilean president will make to Argentina on April 4 and 5 to hold a meeting with the president, Alberto Fernández, among other activities.
With Boric’s visit to Buenos Aires, the Chilean president’s first trip abroad since he took charge of La Moneda on March 11, “an opportunity opens up to dynamically resume the bilateral agenda of friendship, cooperation and integration.” , highlighted the Argentine Foreign Ministry in a statement.
Figueroa, 42, is a psychology graduate, philosophy professor and prominent Chilean politician, with extensive experience as president of the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores de Chile (CUT), and the first woman to hold that position and to head a multi-union in Latin America.
A union leader and militant of the Communist Party (PC), Figueroa was chosen by the Chilean president, Gabriel Boric, to succeed Nicolás Monckeberg, who had held the diplomatic post since January 2020 under the second term of Sebastián Piñera.
According to official sources told Télam, Boric will arrive on Sunday afternoon at the Ezeiza International Airport, where he will be received by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero.
