How exports will increase
The Undersecretary for the Promotion of Trade and Investment of the Foreign Ministry, Guillermo Merediz, highlighted today the possibility of increasing exports from the trade mission carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangladesh, with the participation of businessmen.
“It is a commercial mission with businessmen and women from Argentina, with the deployment of many opportunities,” Merediz told Télam Radio.
He affirmed that “Argentina needs to increase its exports”, and specified that “it already sells around US$ 730 million to Bangladesh”.
“And we have the possibility of increasing those exports. That is why about 20 businessmen from different productive sectors have come, especially agri-food,” the official stressed.
He explained that the businessmen “are going to have more than 300 work meetings with counterparts from Bangladesh.”
“We are working with the Foreign Ministry to identify opportunities, to make the opportunities that this and other markets have in the private sector in Argentina,” the undersecretary remarked.
In addition, he recalled that “Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero launched in December of last year an agenda of more than 305 trade missions and fairs that allow Argentina to have action on all continents.”
For his part, the director of Marolio, Juan Fera, who is participating in the trade mission, indicated that his objective is to expose the “quality” of the products produced by the company and to seek an increase in exports.
“We brought samples to show what we do, the quality of the products and what sets us apart from the rest of the world,” Fera told Télam Radio.
He explained that “exporting food obviously required a lot of approvals”, but stressed that “that’s how we did it in Paris and that’s how we started.”
“And each destination that the Foreign Ministry proposes to leave, we are going to do it because our objective is to increase exports more and more,” said the businessman.
Officials and businessmen arrived yesterday in the city of Dacca to start the trade mission in search of greater exports in a market of 170 million inhabitants.
