CAF Vice President distinguished in Colombia with the Order of San Carlos

The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, decorated the vice president of the Andean Development Corporation (CAF), Christian Asinelli, with the Order of San Carlos in “recognition of his contributions to the country’s development and his work to strengthen international relations,” within the framework of the activities that take place prior to the assumption of Gustavo Petro on Sunday as president of the Andean nation.

According to a statement released by CAF, President Duque stressed that the multilateral credit entity “has offered great support to protect Colombia’s marine areas, to promote the orange economy and the protection of biodiversity.”

Asinelli is Argentine and since August 2021 he has been Corporate Vice President of Strategic Programming at CAF-Development Bank of Latin America, and previously had held the position of Undersecretary of International Financial Relations for Development of the Secretariat of Strategic Affairs of the Presidency. of the government of Alberto Fernandez.

He also held positions as Alternate Governor before the World Bank, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, the Inter-American Development Bank and the African Development Bank.

He was also alternate director before the Development Bank of Latin America and regular director before the Development Bank and Fonlata.

In honoring him, Duque thanked Asinelli for strengthening “CAF’s financial tools and for achieving,” together with Sergio Díaz Granados, president of CAF, “the historical capitalization of the institution.

The delivery of the Order of San Carlos is made by executive decree, following a proposal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is responsible for issuing the diplomas and insignia.

Tomorrow, Díaz Granados and Christian Asinelli will continue with their agenda of meetings (ECLAC, FAO) and will hold a meeting with Petro, the president-elect of Colombia who will take office next Sunday.
