During 2021, 426 companies closed their trade registration in Bolivia; at least 139 of them (33%) correspond to the department of La Paz, according to the report of the Departmental Chamber of Industries of La Paz (Cadinpaz).

The La Paz department leads the closure of industries in the country. In 2020, a total of 122 industries closed, that is, there was an increase of 14% in the decrease of the sector.

The head of La Paz industrialists, Pablo Camacho, indicated that public-private coordination is urgently required to implement industrial development policies.

Meanwhile, in the department of Cochabamba another 118 industries closed; while in Santa Cruz 115 did so, as a result of the economic recession and the entry of contraband products.

Camacho stated that in 2021 an intense institutional activity was carried out within the framework of public and private alliances, which allowed the signing of agreements with the municipalities of La Paz, El Alto and Achocalla and intense dialogue with the municipalities of Mecapaca, Viacha and Laja to promote the production and consumption of national products, in the face of the growing contraband that reduces the market to industrialists.
