CADECA announces new cash “transfer” service

MADRID, Spain.- The Cuban Exchange Houses (CADECA) announced a new cash “transfer” service to credit accounts associated with natural persons’ magnetic cards.

The client must attend with his identification, the cash in CUP and the card to which he wishes to credit the money, the entity indicated through the social network Twitter.

After delivering the amount, the cashier will give the user a receipt as proof of the veracity of the operation carried out, where the person will review the details of the receipt and sign it.

For now, the service is only active in the province of Cienfuegos, although, according to CADECA, it will gradually expand to the entire country.

So far this service was only provided by banks. In this sense, in comments to the information shared by cubadebate One user pointed out: “Less queue for the banks and more work for CADECA, which I don’t think they have much. In fact, I always make my withdrawal through CADECA, and when I see the ATMs overflowing with people, I think they shouldn’t know about this option”.

While Internet users like “Tony” clarified that “if it is with cash and it can only be credited to the customer’s card, then it is not a transfer, it is a “deposit”.

For its part, GMC considered: “It is necessary to implement that the purchase of foreign currency in CADECA can be done from card to card in case the user does not want the cash but credits it directly to their MLC card. It would be very operational and would save paperwork. The purchase and card deposit would be resolved in a single step without another queue at bank branches”.

Last November CADECA announced that the Ticket web platform, with which it intends to eliminate face-to-face queues for the purchase of Freely Convertible Currency (MLC) in its branches, would be ready before the end of January 2023.

ticketcreated by the company Xetid as an online reservation system, also aims to “avoid illegalities that can arise and contribute to better time management by customers,” said Joaquín Alonso Vázquez, president of the banking institution.

The Central Bank of Cuba (BCC) authorized on August 23, 2022 the exchange service in the 37 CADECA offices approved for it; in each operation the client is authorized to buy up to 100 US dollars per person or its equivalent in another MLC.

Since that date, Cubans have had to face long lines and suffer the inefficiency of the service to be able to make the purchase.
