On the first day of CADE 2O25, the executive president of the board of directors of Compañía Minera Poderosa, Eva Arias, highlighted the business role in helping to combat the problems of insecurity and crime.
Although he considered that this is a problem that transcends borders, he said that it is necessary for businessmen, citizens and the government to unite to end this scourge. “We have to be a single force to face the difficulties,” he added.
“I think that businessmen are going to have to take on this challenge with realism and responsibility,” he highlighted and recalled the critical situation in which Pataz (the area where Poderosa operates) finds itself as a consequence of illegal mining.
The businesswoman indicated that today there is more presence of the State in the area, however, the private sector is required to lend a hand to help continue the fight so that people can work with peace of mind.
Along the same lines, Isabel Noboa, executive president of Nobis Holding de Inversiones, assured that the business community must join the search for solutions and opt for a dialogue with the State.
“We must seek alliances not only with the government, but also with universities and civil society. Through alliances, insecurity has been combated,” he highlighted.
STABILITY
For his part, José Luis Manzano, president of Integra Holding, considered that Peru needs a new government that transmits political stability and a Judicial Branch that helps citizens in the fight against crime.
Meanwhile, Bernardo Larraín, president of the board of directors of Empresas CMPC, indicated that it is important for businessmen to get involved in discussions that go beyond the business system. But he also pointed out that it is necessary to strengthen institutions, policies and regulations.
