The chiefs of the Yaza basin of the Sierra de Perijá denounced this Tuesday, June 20, the disappearance of three leaders yukpaswho were detained by officials of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB) on the bridge over General Rafael Urdaneta Lake.
“For eight days they have been missing, incommunicado. We assure, the PNB, they caught them on the bridge over the lake,” said chief Sabino Romero from the Bolívar square in Maracaibo.
Romero met with a group of Yukpas from the Sierra de Perijá, Machiques municipality, to ask the authorities of the Zulia Governorate to help them find out the whereabouts of Zenaida Romero, Francisco Romero and Alfonso Romero.
the yukpas were arrested on the morning of June 15 on the bridge over the lake, after the repression they suffered for closing the viaduct that connects Maracaibo with the rest of Venezuela.

Romero criticized that the authorities of the government of Nicolás Maduro do not attend to them to solve the detention of the indigenous people. «When there are elections, they communicate quickly with the caciques; now in this problem we want to know where the detainees are”he insisted.

“If they don’t come, what we have left is to continue in the Plaza Bolívar until they answer us,” announced Sabino Romero.
For their part, the Yukpas who were beaten on June 15 by PNB officials underwent examinations at the Forensic Medicine to formalize the complaint of aggression by the State security body before the Public Ministry.
