The United States, on the other hand, is the main destination for cachaça in terms of exported values. The country buys the product with an average value of US$ 3.85/liter.

The year 2021 marked a reduction in the number of establishments producing cachaça registered with the ministry, with a drop of 2% compared to the previous year. In 2021, 936 establishments were accounted for – in 2020, there were 955 registered cachaçarias. In 2021, 98 new cachaçarias were registered and another 117 canceled their registrations.

Minas Gerais, as usual, concentrates the largest number of registered establishments. The largest producer of the drink, the state has 353 establishments. In second, São Paulo appears, with 143. Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro appear next, with 64 and 60 establishments, respectively.
