MADRID, Spain.- After more than 24 hours without electricity, residents of the province of Holguín took to the streets on Wednesday night to demand the restoration of the service.
As confirmed to CubaNet one of the participants, who preferred to remain anonymous, the protests occurred simultaneously in three districts of Holguin: La Quinta, Vista Alegre and Ramón Quintana.
In videos shared via Twitter by Felix Llerenadefender of human rights, Cubans are observed outside their homes protesting to the rhythm of the sound of cauldrons.
“Let the saucepans sound in protest against the Dictatorship. We are millions and they cannot imprison an entire town”, said Filled by sharing the images.
Independent reporter Ramón Zamora Rodríguez also shared images of a protest that took place in the July 26 district of that province in eastern Cuba.
On the night of this Tuesday, when Hurricane Ian hit the country, a national blackout in Cuba. Although power has been restored to some regions, most remain in blackout.
During the last months the cacerolazos have been made frequent throughout the Island, due to the unsustainable energy and economic crisis suffered by Cubans.
