Cablebús: almost two years of construction.
At the end of 2022, work was announced and launched for the construction of Cablebús Line 3, whose route – from the Constituyentes Metro – seeks to connect the second, third and fourth sections of Chapultepec Park.
Since November 2022, the Secretariat of Works and Services of Mexico City announced that the consortium Doppelmayr and INDI Group were the winners of the public tender to build the Cablebús Line 3 for an amount of 2,263 million pesos.
During the start of construction for the latest mobility megaproject of the now president-elect Claudia Sheinbaum, it was contemplated that Line 3 of the Cablebús would be put into operation in September 2023, later changed to December of that year and then to the first half of 2024.
Part of the delay in the works was due to the fact that neighborhood and environmental organizations filed an injunction to prevent the progress of the placement of the pillars that support the wiring and the gondolas, due to the felling of trees in the Chapultepec Forest area.
On September 24, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador will inaugurate line three of the Cablebús, which is part of the “Chapultepec, nature and culture” project. He will be accompanied by the president-elect, Claudia Sheinbaum, the head of government, Martí Batres, and federal cultural authorities.
