This Wednesday, October 6, the Cabinet Council, chaired by the President of the Republic Laurentino Cortizo, at the Specialized Higher Technical Institute (ITSE), approved the extension of contributions to the Rate Stabilization Fund that benefits 92% of electricity customers.
Specifically, it was approved to extend from October 1 to 31, 2022, the scheme temporarily adopted by the State, in concept of Extraordinary Contributions to the Tariff Stabilization Fund (FET), due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The director of Investments, Concessions and State Risks (DICRE) of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), Francisco Álvarez, indicated that this measure benefits more than one million people, that is, 92% of the electricity clients of the country.
During the Cabinet Council session, the Secretary of Energy, Jorge Rivera Staff, reiterated that the transfer of items was achieved to honor the payment of B/. 60 million to gas distribution companies in a timely manner.
Staff indicated that in this way the Government mitigates any risk in the supply and marketing of the 25-pound gas tank.
He pointed out that the national and international gas tank marketing cost chain will be reviewed, since there are opportunities for improvement in that supply chain that is to be optimized.
Resolution Project 110-22 was also approved, declaring an environmental State of Emergency in the provinces of Colón, Chiriquí, Panama, Comarca Ngäbe-Buglé and Comarca Guna Yala due to the intense rains that have affected these areas.
The Minister of Environment, Milciades Concepción, indicated that national laws give the authority to declare this state of environmental emergency.
Also, given these conditions, it establishes that when declaring a State of Emergency, state entities may contract acquisitions of food and services, among others, through a special procedure.
