From an alleged meeting with international guests, the first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela threatened that “those who believe they are going to subvert the order will be left wanting”
The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, insisted this Friday, July 26, just two days before the presidential elections, that the opposition “will never govern” in the country and held this sector responsible for any “violent act.”
During a supposed meeting with international guests, Cabello said that “on July 28 something beautiful will happen in Venezuela” and that “those who believe they are going to subvert the order will be left wanting.”
“What I am seeing today are the looks, the hugs from times like 2006, a determined, loving, extraordinary people. If something different happens, violence, it will be from the opposition, they have anticipated it,” he said.
The Chavista leader threatened that The Venezuelan State “will take the necessary measures to guarantee peace” and that the electoral process will be carried out “without any kind of cheating.” He also concluded by saying that “the opposition will never govern this country again.”
Despite Cabello’s accusations against the opposition, as of July 20, the Peace Laboratory had recorded 76 arbitrary arrests against people who participated in some opposition campaign activity. In contrast, no incidents were reported on the side of the ruling party during the electoral campaigns.
Cabello said that they, the Chavistas, get up at the sound of the reveille, while he expressed that the opposition “is weaker, they are not organized.” On the other hand, he pointed out that one day after the elections, on July 29, they will go to the streets “so that the world knows that the revolution in Venezuela has a long life.”
