Cabello responds to Machado's call: Violence outbreaks planned for 17Aug

Diosdado Cabello, first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) warned that “all” those who have denied the results given by the National Electoral Council (CNE) in the early hours of July 29, in which Nicolás Maduro was named the winner of the presidential elections, will face legal consequences for not recognizing the organization.

The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, responded to the call for a worldwide march made by opposition leader María Corina Machado for Saturday, August 17. The official leader said that on that day the dissidents plan to generate new outbreaks of violence.

“There are two plans for violence in the works, one of which is headed by Magaly Meda (head of the ConVzla command),” Cabello said on August 14 during his program With the hammer hitting, while reading a letter from a “cooperating patriot” who was allegedly informing him of the opposition’s alleged plans.

According to the text read by the deputy of the National Assembly of 2020, the opposition has also paid people in recent days, “who were brought in from outside,” to supposedly “do harm.” The official suggested that the opposition would even be planning a possible attack against the TSJ.

He also stated that “all” those who have denied the results given by the National Electoral Council (CNE) in the early hours of July 29, in which the entity named Nicolás Maduro as the winner of the presidential elections, should face legal consequences for not recognizing the organization.

“Nicolás Maduro won the elections, anyone who does not agree should present the records. All the candidates went to the TSJ except for this Mr. Edmundo (González). The parties that supported him went and said they did not have a single record. It is very complicated, but I can guarantee you that the investigation will lead to a decision, and all those who have violated the Electoral Law will have to assume their responsibility,” he said.

The high-ranking official ruled out the possibility of a negotiation of results or a transition of power. He reiterated that President Nicolás Maduro won the elections on July 28 with a large majority. He also insisted that the CNE does not publish minutes, but electoral results.

“We are not going to repeat the results of anything. What second round? Gentlemen, do not get involved in Venezuela’s affairs and we will respond to you,” he added, ruling out the possibility of repeat elections.

The first vice president of the PSUV again accused María Corina Machado, founder of Vente Venezuela, of being involved in attacks against supporters of the ruling party.

He stressed that young people who support the government of Nicolás Maduro have been victims of attacks, persecution and threats on social media. “It is fascism at work and who is behind it? Alias ’la Sayo’ (referring to Machado). She is a terrorist who does not care at all about her country. A fugitive from justice,” he said.
