Cabello proposes modification of electoral laws to limit opposition participation

Diosdado Cabello, in his program “Con el Mazo Dando”, stated that at the meeting scheduled by the 2020 National Assembly for this Thursday, October 3, the PSUV will propose modifying the electoral laws to prevent the opposition from participating in the next elections.

The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, announced that the red awning will request a modification in the electoral laws to restrict the participation of the opposition in future elections, for having a history of claiming fraud, not presenting evidence nor recognize the official results.

In his statements, Cabello questioned the eligibility of those requesting foreign interventions, stating that «If you ask for an invasion of your country, can you be a candidate? No, in another country you would be imprisoned».

This proposal arises one day after the president of the 2020 National Assembly (AN), Jorge Rodríguez, announced the review of the Organic Law of Political Parties, that of Electoral Processes and that of the Electoral Power.

The opposition, for its part, rejected the invitation to dialogue, considering it as a propaganda exercise without adequate guarantees.

Rejection of Carter Center statements

The Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace, also rejected a report from the Carter Center presented to the Organization of American States (OAS). Jennie Lincoln, representative of the organization, showed the OAS a batch of electoral records from the July 28 elections.

Cabello in response assured that the voters will go out on January 10 to be sworn in alongside President Nicolás Maduro, and that the report presented by the Carter Center was ready before coming to Venezuela. «because they are part of the plan».

He also warned of legal consequences for those who finance terrorist activities, referring to campaign fundraising. «Almost Venezuela»allegedly linked to mercenaries.

According to the Organic Law against Organized Crime and Financing of Terrorism, these actions can lead to sentences of between 15 and 25 years in prison.

“Don’t worry, the problem is that one day you go and hand in your passport at the airport and a light turns on,” Cabello said on his program Con El Mazo Dando.

The Chavista leader referred to Edmundo González Urrutia to assert that the opponent’s plan «continue stealing assets» from Venezuela. In his opinion, the United States is behind this strategy to hand over Citgo.

Cabello read a letter from a «cooperating patriot»where it was mentioned that González Urrutia seeks to manage the nation’s assets in collaboration with right-wing actors in Spain and Argentina.

Finally, Cabello issued a warning to those who have defended the mayor of Maracaibo, Rafael Ramírez Colina, and other officials who will be charged by the Public Ministry for being involved in alleged acts of corruption.

“They already came out to defend him and they will regret having defended him when everything comes out, because there everyone is telling the truth and it is due to corruption,” he certified.
