“One sees some polls out there that say that such a candidate has 20-something percent, and the other 10-something percent, but those same polls say that only 17 percent have heard of primary elections and one is question, and who will participate? Go figure. A failure, a true failure.”
This was stated by the first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, in reference to the announced primary election event for a sector of the opposition to choose a candidate for the presidential elections.
He criticized that this sector of the opposition “is counting on the participation of Venezuelans abroad” to show acceptable numbers in this primary process in case it is carried out with the mechanism of the National Electoral Council “where there can be no cheating.”
“If 200,000 participate there, there are 200,000, with the CNE figures cannot be inflated,” he pointed out and denied the possibility of presidential elections with manual voting, as some pre-candidates have pointed out.
“If you want to win an election, forget that the elections when they are going to be done manuals because the OAS (Organization of American States) is going to come, no, here the elections are going to be done with the CNE that we have,” he said.
Lasso covered by the US
On the other hand, Cabello referred to the decision to dissolve the National Assembly of Ecuador, executed by the Ecuadorian president, Guillermo Lasso, and assured that this action has the support of the United States.
“What Lasso did is authorized by the United States, so if the people go out to protest they are going to eat them alive,” he warned while describing the government of the North American country as “hypocritical.”
“Ecuador’s Lasso decided with a single stroke of the pen to dissolve congress under the Constitution, and the United States said it ‘respected the constitutional decision. Pedro Castillo also tried to do the same under the Constitution and the gringos accused him of committing ‘extra-constitutional’ actions, but there is a fundamental ethical difference; Lasso came to the presidency at the hands of the businessmen, he is a president of the oligarchy, while Pedro Castillo is a schoolteacher who came without the support of businessmen but rather from the towns”, he explained.
“It is a supreme hypocrisy of US imperialism and then they come to talk to you about democracy and human rights,” he questioned.
He affirmed that Lasso’s decision was made due to the imminence of his dismissal by the Ecuadorian National Assembly.
“Why is Lasso doing this? Because his prosecution was imminent despite the fact that the majority in Congress belonged to his economic group, the trial was imminent. Imagine, this is how the acts of corruption will be, ”he stressed.
Coup against Petro
Cabello also referred to Colombia and reiterated his alert about a coup against President Gustavo Petro by what he qualifies as the “narcoparaca bourgeoisie.”
“I take this opportunity to warn about the attempt that is currently taking place in the institutions of the Colombian drug-trafficking bourgeoisie to give President Petro a coup d’état because there has been a real war against drug trafficking,” he said.
In this regard, he denounced the position of attack assumed by the Government of the United States. “Of course, the United States is already taking the blanket off President Petro and raising an alarm for its citizens due to the danger of kidnapping, of course they talk about the border, but the truth is that the attack is against the government of President Petro,” he said. .
“We alert the social movements of the world about what is happening in Colombia,” he insisted.
