The first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, affirmed this Monday that the red awning, by instruction of the head of state, is at the forefront of the fight against corruption and any vice that may arise. “Never before in Venezuela has corruption been denounced as in the government of Hugo Chávez and President Nicolás Maduro,” he said.
During the usual PSUV press conference, he gave his opinion on the recent arrests of several senior officials linked to acts of corruption and explained that “our president Nicolás Maduro ordered the reform of the judicial system for a reason. Whoever commits criminal acts, we will make the full weight of the law fall from this political party, ”he remarked.
“All the detainees have been declaring and all the statements are taken into account for the investigation to move forward,” he said about the recent arrests.
Asked about the judges who have been arrested, he said that the action “has to do with the collection of sentences, proven and proven, where there are people involved and the investigation continues, because this is not about just one point.”
In addition, the deputy also ratified that “Whoever falls, we are going to face them. A mayor has been arrested for his links to crime, ”he said regarding the arrest of Pedro Hernández, mayor of Las Tejerías, Aragua.
Cabello pointed out that there are many living abroad fleeing the fight against corruption. In these cases, the Venezuelan Government will take action on this matter. “Many members of the opposition who are outside the country do not have the moral to speak about corruption in Venezuela. Instead, we are frontal. Whoever wears a red shirt and is stealing is not a revolutionary, ”he remarked.
On the other hand, he denied the version that opposition media have circulated on social networks about alleged divisions and internal wars of the PSUV. “Here (at the press conference) is the National Directorate. What these things do is unite us even more, ”he clarified.
Cabello stressed that under the PSUV government they will not be tolerant of acts of corruption no matter where they come from.
