Cabello disassociates NGOs from releases and accuses them of “giving straw to the detainees”

Diosdado Cabello 19 enero

The vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, assured that the attacks against the country will be faced “on the front of diplomacy.” He added that they are not “afraid to sit down and talk to whoever we have to talk to” to protect the people.

The vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, disassociated non-governmental organizations (NGOs) from the release process that the authorities have been carrying out in favor of some political prisoners, since last December and which increased in the month of January.

«That has nothing to do with the NGOs of this country. “That is a decision that Nicolás Maduro made in the month of December,” he stated and said that the first batch of excarcalations was carried out on December 24, another on the 31st of that month and stated: “What has been given is continuity to a decision.”

Cabello, like Jorge Rodríguez, president of the National Assembly, and then Delcy Rodríguez, in charge of the Executive, accused the organizations that provide support to the relatives of those detained for political reasons of charging them money to advise them in the judicial process.

“If the NGOs do anything, it is to throw straws at the detainees so that they do not leave (the prisons) because that is where they receive money from outside,” he asserted.

The Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace also said that the capture of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores, as well as other “aggressions” will confront them “on the front of diplomacy.” He insisted that the ruling party is not “afraid to sit down and talk to whoever we have to talk to” to protect the people.

Although the authorities indicated that until last week there had been 406 releases, NGOs have managed to verify between 100 and 155 releases and demand that the release processes be accelerated so that “the suffering of political prisoners and their families finally ends.”
