Corruption network that operated in the Maracibo mayor’s office used garbage collection and office remodeling as a cover to divert resources that were later used to finance the opposition political party Primero Justicia, reported the Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace. Diosdado Hair.
In a press conference held this Tuesday, he explained that the aforementioned network embezzled more than 2 million 700 thousand dollars, only using as an argument the collection of solid waste in that town.
He explained that from the office directed by former opposition mayor Rafael Ramírez, contracts for garbage collection were awarded to 7 different companies, which did not fulfill the aforementioned work.
“There were mountains of garbage, tons of garbage in the streets of Maracaibo, but they had 7 companies contracted all with the same purpose, to divert resources,” he said.
In this sense, Cabello indicated that the political leader of Primero Justicia, Juan Pablo Guanipa, received from this corruption network the sum of 50 thousand dollars a week to finance operations of that political group and his personal expenses.
