Cabello confirmed the arrest of Enrique Márquez and linked him to a detained FBI agent

Diosdado Cabello also asserted that there is a list of people linked to the opposition, with names such as Elías Sayegh and Sairam Rivas, linked to alleged terrorist acts.


The Minister of the Interior and Justice, Diosdado Cabello, confirmed on the night of Wednesday, January 8, the arrest of former presidential candidate Enrique Márquez, also ensuring that he has links with a US FBI official; who is part of the new group of seven alleged mercenaries that was arrested in the country.

Cabello, in his televised program, stated that said US Bureau official also has ties to Rafael Tudares, son-in-law of Edmundo González Urrutia.

«Among the things that are found for that man (Enrique Márquez) he is linked to the gringo from the FBI and with Edmundo’s son-in-law (…) Mr. Enrique Márquez has this on his computer, he is a good friend of Juan Barreto and María Alejandra Díaz”, referring to an alleged document whose authorship was attributed to the political leader in which a proposal to take possession of Edmundo González is addressed.

According to the also first vice president of the PSUV, in this text “it is proposed that the oath be sworn in before an assembly of citizens at the headquarters of a Venezuelan embassy abroad, such as the headquarters of the United States or in Peru.”

“Enrique Márquez was in charge of that, for those who are defending him, you heard Petro, he may be your friend, but he is a criminal,” he said.

Diosdado Cabello also asserted that there is a list of people linked to the opposition who would be involved in alleged terrorist acts, listing Elías Sayegh, Leonardo Canache, Omar Novak, Jeonmar Novak, Efraín de la Cerda, Samuel Díaz Pulgar, Benjamín Gómez, Antonio Lachini , Elaisa Ferris, Paola Alemán, Anthony Romero, Marcial Callejas, Aquiles Martini, Alberto Deriveros, Mario de Negris, María Eugenio Redondo, Oswaldo Yaseli, Héctor Urguelles, Xiomara Sierra, Sairam Rivas and Jesús Rivero.

He also stated that the former presidents of the IDEA Group, who promised to accompany Edmundo González Urrutia, will not dare to come to the country and ordered the dissemination of “wanted” posters of the former leaders who make up said organization, among whom he named Andrés Pastrana, Mireya Moscoso and Mario Abdo Benítez.

Cabello also pointed out that the Venezuelan opposition would be planning to use Panama as a country to establish an alleged government in exile; after the announcement to leave the minutes in the custody of that country.

He explained in an interview with Madelein Garcia that the FBI official was a high-ranking officer who came to destabilize, also confirming that Rafael Tudares was part of a conspiracy, as well as saying that Carlos Correa is a political activist who “disguises his actions” with an NGO and that he is within these plans. He announced that there is more than one organization involved.
