The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, reaffirmed that the PSUV supports all of Delcy Rodríguez’s decisions and initiatives. He indicated that they seek the stabilization and tranquility of the nation
The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello, assured that as of the afternoon of this Monday, January 26, there have been 808 releases and invited the UN to verify the situation of those detained in the country.
“I can tell you that as of today, before December and until now, there have been 808 releases,” he stated, adding that the authorities did not meet with any NGO to discuss who would benefit from precautionary measures. In that same sense, he indicated that the organizations defending political prisoners “are gangsters. “They are extortionists.”
«They have nothing to do with each other. “The NGOs throw straws at the political prisoners,” Cabello reiterated, just as he has said on other occasions. «Every time they can they get involved to prevent them from being released because they live off of that; of extortion,” he added and emphasized that the releases that are taking place are due to the “decision” of Nicolás Maduro.
Although the authorities promised to show a list with the names and surnames of those who have received precautionary measures, no list has been made public. Relatives remain outside the detention centers to request the release of all detainees.
The Minister of the Interior, Justice and Peace also invited the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, to visit the country and verify the situation. «We have nothing to hide, nothing, absolutely nothing. The president in charge said it, let the High Commissioner come and talk. “We have nothing to hide,” he said.
Diosdado Cabello denied that the authorities are victims “of pressure of any kind.”
On the other hand, he reaffirmed that the PSUV supports all the decisions and initiatives of Delcy Rodríguez, in charge of the Executive after the capture of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores. He indicated that they seek the stabilization and tranquility of the nation.
He stated that currently the three priorities are the release of Maduro and Flores and their return to the country, tranquility and peace, and economic development.
