The Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development, Juan Cabandié, affirmed this Tuesday that “it would be a forceful measure and, at some point, a form of discipline” that the Justice summons the owners of the fields where it is presumed that grasslands are burned in the area of the Paraná River islands, considering that this action would serve to “discourage the outbreaks” that are being repeated in said wetland and that have already affected thousands of hectares.
Cabandié insisted that the province of “Entre Ríos must hand over the cadastres to prosecutor Claudio Kishimoto and judge Federico Martín” to advance in the legal cases for the forest fires in fields in the area of the Paraná river delta, where he reiterated that some are owned by “known people”.
“We need to cross information that we bring to the Justice, the geolocation of the fires and the owners of these fields,” said the minister in statements by Radio Nacional Folklorica.

And he asked that Justice summon their owners: “The truth is that it would be a forceful measure and at some point it would be a form of discipline, to discourage the foci. If justice acted and summoned these people, without a doubt, the owners of the fields or those who do it by getting into fields that are not theirs would think twice.”
Cabandié shared on his Twitter account a report published by Rosario journalist Juan Chiummiento, where he combined satellite information on fires during August with registered farms on the islands and considered that “it helps to find those responsible for the ecocide.”
“The same thing we insistently asked the Justice two years ago. Entre Ríos must deliver the cadastres to the prosecutor Claudio Kishimoto and to the judge Federico Martín”said the minister through that social network.
And then he insisted in his radio statements that “that could have been done by the Justice, without a doubt. We asked them two years ago and they didn’t do it.”

For Cabandié, the Ministry of the Environment “changed in the face of the fair demand of the citizens,” but warned that “the one who has not changed is Justice,” which he considered a “problem” because “it continues to act as it did 50 years ago.”
He also recalled that two years and two months ago, the Ministry he leads appeared before the “Baggio Rufino and others” case.
“The fields of this family, the famous Baggio juices, burn permanently. The same thing happens in fields where there are other well-known people”said the minister.
“Last week we expanded the complaint again. We went (with Sergio Federovisky) together to see the prosecutor and the judge to ask them to please take inquiries, take testimonials from those who are presumed to have fires in their field,” he said. .
In that sense, he indicated that “the prosecutor promised that he was going to start summoning them.”
