Santo Domingo, DR.- The management of the drinking water and sewage service in Greater Santo Domingo will be transformed through the “Zone Plan” which will be implemented by the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CAASD).
The project has a budget of 104 million pesos, allocated to 54 works, including the rehabilitation of water storage tanks in sectors such as Gualey, Mary Help of Christiansresidential Juan RafaelJardines del Arroyo and Monumental residential, in addition to the correction of sanitary drainage problems.
“This year we begin, God willing, and it will transform the responses to the breakdown service. The Zone Plan is set up and will be underway very soon,” announced the director of the entity, engineer Felipe Suberví.
Specifically in the GSD, the demand for water in the neighborhoods persists due to population growth and the deterioration of pipes, which date back decades, which causes loss of liquid.

Hence, it has become normal for the service to reach homes 2 or 3 times a week and for users to have to store water in tanks, jugs, use cisterns or submersible pumps.
The project seeks to optimize efficiency, Greater Santo Domingo will be divided into four areas, subdivided into zones, where engineers coordinated with the neighborhood associations will supervise the interventions.

The program includes the mobilization of 70 brigades equipped with trucks and modern tools, which will be available 24 hours a day to respond to citizens’ complaints.
Suberví announced that with the brigades it will guarantee that each breakdown is attended to immediately, reducing response times and bringing the service closer to the community.
“We are talking about an equitable plan, which will cover all areas of Greater Santo Domingo, ensuring that all residents have access to drinking water and quality sanitation,” the official explained.
Through a document addressed to the press, the CAASD reported that the interventions will benefit more than four million people in the National District and the municipalities of Santo Domingo Oeste and Norte, increasing service coverage, water pressure and production, which will reach 500 million gallons per day.
He meant that it is about works that the communities have been demanding for years, and they have contracted the works to execute them immediately.

The plan also includes the modernization of the aqueducts of Haina-ManoguayaboLa Isabela, El Tamarindo I and II, and Valdesia.
Suberví highlighted that the initiative seeks to improve operational sustainability, reduce long-term costs, optimize the response to breakdowns and bring the service closer to the community, ensuring a more efficient and reliable supply.
The CAASD aims to offer a comprehensive, transparent and sustainable service, responding to historical demands of the communities of Greater Santo Domingo.
Suberví said that they hope that citizens see concrete results, that they have confidence in the institution that is committed to improving their quality of life and that each intervention is carried out with transparency and efficiency.
