The general director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD), engineer Felipe Suberví, reported that new pipes are being laid that will guarantee drinking water in sectors of the National District.
These are the Don Bosco, San Carlos and Miraflores sectors, where the problem of lack of drinking water had been affecting its residents for decades.
“We have gone to the aid of more than 6,000 inhabitants of these neighborhoods who for years have denounced the lack of such a vital and necessary resource as water. They can count on us not only to be heard, but also to find the best solutions”, Suberví pointed out.
Regarding the works that are being carried out, the incumbent explained that they consist of the substitution and placement of totally new pipes, with the valves and special pieces that they deserve.
The CAASD brigades are cutting 13,000.00 meters of asphalt layer, to extract 8,500 cubic meters of earth to later lay pipes of different diameters: 3,343.35 meters (m) of 4 inches (“), 2, 396.92 m of 6 ” and 1,847.59 m of 8”.
Similarly, they will introduce 67.18 m of 12 inches with an electromagnetic type flow meter and its valve registers.
The official stressed that during this administration, cases that had not been attended to for more than 30 years had been resolved.
“President Luis Abinader has told us to bring a solution in those specific cases that had never received a response from any authority, and that is what we are doing, supplying drinking water to all of Greater Santo Domingo,” he said.
“We guarantee the population that we continue to work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in a constant and responsible manner, so that they can feel the quality of the services we provide,” Suberví said.
Likewise, the head of the CAASD added that the brigades worked uninterruptedly throughout the weekend holiday.
