CAASD begins work to guarantee drinking water in the Luz María urbanization, SDE

Santo Domingo. – The general director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewerage Corporation (CAASD), Felipe Suberví, announced the start of construction work on a drinking water supply network that will benefit a population of more than 15,000 inhabitants in the urbanization Luz María, from the municipality of Santo Domingo Este.

In a statement, the official stressed that more than four linear kilometers of pipes of different diameters will be placed to guarantee the supply of the precious liquid, to respond to the demands of the residents of the aforementioned area.

“Today work began on the Luz María urbanization, its residents had been facing vicissitudes for years, asking to have adequate access to drinking water, something that will be possible thanks to the intentions of the President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, who has as a priority to make the water service in Greater Santo Domingo”, Suberví pointed out.

The head of the CAASD pointed out that the community will no longer have to improvise a network to supply themselves, nor go to the purchase of water trucks.

“Our responsibility is that each home is guaranteed the service of this natural resource,” said the official.

On their side, the community members welcomed the beginning of the work that will solve the problem. They thanked the authorities for responding to their call and ordering the execution of the work, required for years.

The work will cost approximately 22 million pesos and it is estimated that it will be completed before the end of the current year.

Other executions of the CAASD in SDE

Suberví also detailed that the CAASD brought drinking water to the Villa Celeste, El Kilombo and Esperanza I and II sectors, for the benefit of more than 700 families in the San Luis municipal district.

He indicated that the project consisted of laying pipes with its supply network, in favor of a population that had been claiming the infrastructure for more than 20 years.

Likewise, he highlighted that the institution’s brigades carried out the work to guarantee the service in the drinking water distribution network in the Villa Felicia urbanization, La Paz sector, El Martillo, Roca de Salvación, Villa Linda, San Isidro Centro, New Project Reborn and San Luis, among others. He added that the work was carried out by the Executing Unit and Projects of the CAASD.

The director of the CAASD explained that, due to the work carried out in this demarcation, the drinking water service has been improved by more than 90% in the neighborhood of La Moneda de Las Américas; in more than 75% in Los Molinos, La Ureña, Cancela, Riviera del Caribe, among others.

Likewise, he stressed that the junction of Ciudad Juan Bosch with the marginal of Las Américas, guarantee a permanent service to different localities in the area.

“Before, only 60% of the residents of the Ozama expansion received water, today 100% receive a quality service, thanks to the interconnection of the Salinity Barrier with El Tamarindo,” the official stressed.
