The Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CAASD) made available four new hydrosuction trucks which were acquired by the Government for an amount of 192 million pesos, to strengthen the Zone Plan executed by the entity.
Speaking during a delivery ceremony held at the institution’s headquarters, its director, Fellito Suberví, explained that the units are equipped with state-of-the-art pressure pumps and suction turbines. These trucks can pump high-pressure water, unclog clogged pipes, clean septic tanks and address various problems in the healthcare system in Greater Santo Domingo.
Suberví detailed that the “Zone Plan” contemplates the incorporation of 141 new pieces of equipment, including backhoes, hydrosuction trucks, 18-ton cranes, dump trucks, compressors and trucks for brigades, which will triple the operational capacity of the institution.
“This is a new historical milestone that we have marked at the CAASD, because these teams are of vital importance to continue bringing health and tranquility to the residents of Greater Santo Domingo, especially in terms of saturation or clogging of the sanitary networks and in case of floods as a contribution to the drainage solution,” indicated the director of the CAASD.
To guarantee the effectiveness of the project, I highlight that the units are connected to the CAASD Monitoring Center, where each intervention will be registered and georeferenced, ensuring transparency, control in responses to the needs in each sector.6
