The Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (CAASD) reported this Thursday that it is speeding up the work of rehabilitation of 11 regulator tanks of drinking water in different sectors of the National District and the province of Santo Domingo, works that present a general progress of 45% and an investment of more than 322 million pesos.
The director of the institution, Felipe -Fellito- Suberví, explained that this project is part of the “Zone Plan“, an initiative aimed at improving storage capacity and optimizing the distribution of drinking water service in Greater Santo Domingo.
Suberví highlighted that the process has gone through several technical stagesfrom structural surveys until the phase of rehabilitation deep
“We are working rapidly to ensure efficiencysecurity and continuity of service,” he stated.
He explained that, to date, the CAASD delivered the Palmar de Herrera tankswith a capacity of nine million gallons and an investment of 55,232,128 pesos; Residencial Jardín Genoveva in La Victoria, El Milloncito de Sabana Perdida, Buenaventuranza, Residencial Juan Pablo II and Residencial Villa de los Milagros, with a joint investment of 149,316,639 pesos.
Currently, the María Auxiliadora, Esther, Gualey, Los Guaricanos and La Monumental tanks are undergoing intervention, whose delivery is scheduled for early next year.
In addition, the institution announced that it will soon begin the rehabilitation of the tanks Carmen Renata IJuan Rafael Jacobo Majluta, Stream GardensSan Isidro Labrador and Colinas del Arroyo.
Suberví indicated that the CAASD has incorporated a system of advanced waterproofing certified by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) of the United Kingdom, under the BS 6920:2014 standardsuitable for contact with drinking water.
This method, he noted, reduce losses by leaks and prolongs the useful life of structures.

The institution is also advancing a program of rehabilitation and modernization of wastewater treatment plants sewagewith an investment of 721.4 million pesos.
They already went delivered the plants of Prado de San Luis and Hainamosawhile they remain in tender those of Villa Liberación and The Virgin.
Other plants, such as those of Los Tres Brazos, Satellite cityLa Ciénaga and La Zurza, are in lifting process for its adaptation.
Likewise, the CAASD contemplates intervening the plants New Herd (Manoguayabo), The AlcarrizosLots and Services and Caballona.
Expansion of the sanitary sewer
As part of the comprehensive improvement plan, the entity has on its agenda the replacement and expansion of sanitary sewer in Villas Agrícolas, Villa Consuelo, Villa Juana and Jacobo Majluta Avenue, with an investment of 1,465.7 million pesos, which will reinforce the health infrastructure of Greater Santo Domingo.
