It is important to remember that, in accordance with the Organic Law of Elections (LOE) of the ONPEin the event of a tie between two candidates, regardless of the election that is held, the tiebreaker will be done by public draw.
This was recalled by the spokesperson for the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), Pablo Hartill, who argued that said tie-breaking decision is protected by Peruvian legislation.
Along the same lines, Hartill highlighted that the central electoral body will be in charge of carrying out this draw and not the ONPE and that it must be carried out before December 23, the deadline for the registration of presidential candidates.
On the other hand, list 2, led by the former Minister of the Interior, González Fernández, will be accompanied by Wilbert Portugal and Katherine Ramírez.
