The Government of Gustavo Petro made one of the most controversial decisions in its first months after decreeing a rise in the price of gasoline of 200 pesos per gallon in the last quarter.

It should be remembered that the measure was taken in search of reduce the deficit that currently exists in the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund that he had entered into a subsidiary dynamic.
However, the measure would change for next year as announced by the Minister of Finance, José Antonio Ocampo. Last Wednesday, December 7, he announced that they expect accelerate this price increase in 2023.
“This year we started with 200 pesos per gallon of gasoline per month and next year we hope to accelerate those increases, obviously, the negative effect (there is a positive one that was to reduce Soat)”, clarified Minister Ocampo, in the middle of his intervention in the forum ‘The truth about the tax reform’, of the Colombian Academy of Economic Sciences.
