The Lima Stock Exchange (BVL) closed 2024 with positive results and stands as one of the most attractive in the region for this year.

Last year, the BVL achieved a profitability of 12%, in dollars and stood out among the countries of the Pacific Alliance, driven by the recovery of the Peruvian economy. In addition, the General Index reached a new high of 31,009 points and its average level is the highest in the last five years.
According to César Huiman, senior analyst of Equity Research at Renta4 SAB, the performance of the Peruvian economy was reflected in several sectors of the stock market, such as the financial sector, whose index rose 30%, favored by the best growth prospects since the middle of the year. and the reversal of bank provisions.
The same was replicated in the industrial sector (+17%) and the mining sector (+8%). The latter was helped by positive prospects for long-term global metals demand. In line with this, precious metals such as gold and silver showed notable performance. Likewise, revisions were made to the stock indices, improving their values due to the expectation that in 2025 the corporate sector will report higher profits.
Also, people’s appetite for international stocks listed on the BVL stood out, especially technology stocks, which were among the most profitable of the year.
By 2025, the stock market is projected to be one of the most attractive to invest in, due to the room that stocks still have to rise, as well as the good profit prospects of companies.
