The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francisco Bustillo, is on a tour of Europe, as part of the negotiations for the final ratification of the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union. Hardly this Wednesday the 7th he held a meeting with authorities of the Government of France, in Paris. Meanwhile, today, Thursday, he will be received by the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, in Berlin.
Bustillo’s tour of countries on that continent began on Monday the 5th in Madrid, Spain, and continued in Brussels, Belgium, where he was received on Tuesday the 6th by European Union (EU) authorities.
This Wednesday 7, meanwhile, the Foreign Minister of Uruguay held a meeting with the Delegate Minister for Foreign Trade in Paris, France, Olivier Becht, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.
At the meeting, the authorities analyzed the commercial economic flows between Uruguay and France and the perspectives regarding the Mercosur-European Union agreement. The representatives agreed to coordinate efforts to strengthen ties in the trade and investment areas, as well as manage the best way to advance in the completion of the bi-regional negotiations.
Later, Bustillo was received by Emmanuel Bonne, director of the Diplomatic Cell of the Presidency of the Republic and diplomatic advisor to the President of France, Emmanuel Jean-Michel Frédéric Macron.
The topics discussed at the meeting referred to the bilateral relationship, possible high-level visits, the current international scenario and the Mercosur-EU agreement. The leaders expressed confidence in strengthening the ties that unite both nations and advancing in all areas of common interest, the Foreign Ministry reported.
According to the planned agenda, Bustillo will hold a meeting with the German Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock, in the city of Berlin on Thursday 8.
