The National Chamber of Commerce (CNC) and the Federation of Private Entrepreneurs of Santa Cruz ask the Government for dialogue to coordinate their work and improve the growth prospects of 6%, projected by President Luis Arce. The Ministry of Economy affirms that to date they have not received a letter of request to set up a meeting.

“As a business sector, we want growth to be as high as possible and for that we request that a platform for public-private dialogue be implemented so that businessmen can help improve growth levels through the implementation of timely and impactful measures to the economy”, declared the general manager of the CNC, Gustavo Jáuregui.

He affirmed that the business sector is hopeful that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) will reach 6% this year, however, he considers that the conditions are not given by the fourth wave of the coronavirus, which impacts all the economies of the world and of the region.

The president of the Federation of Private Entrepreneurs of Santa Cruz, Jean Pierre Antelo, affirmed that President Luis Arce’s speech left them with some doubts, mainly about how the projected growth will be achieved, therefore, greater dialogue with the private sector is required.

“In the speech, important issues were left out that were not mentioned, for example, how are we going to reach that growth rate of 5.6%, leaving aside private investment. What are the import substitutions really going to be, when what the State abrogates the most is fuel imports, such as gasoline (…). What is needed is dialogue, rapprochement, more conversation with an important sector such as the private sector,” Antelo demanded, in contact with Central Affairs.

He pointed out that the common citizen does not know if he is going to buy a house, if the interest rates are going to be lower, higher, while the business sector foresees that it will be a difficult year; Although production continues, he considers that coordinated work is needed from the three levels of State.

“We as a private sector have presented a proposal for us to grow to 7%, but coordinated work is needed for the benefit of the country (…). The businessman measures what his level of productivity will be this year, but he does not know what measures are going to be launched and then they will go back, as in the case of the health certificate, which was an important measure,” said the businessman from Santa Cruz.

In this regard, the Ministry of Economy reported that the Government did not receive a single letter to start a dialogue.

“No businessman has done it, there is always the opening, but I am showing with facts, there are only pure speeches, if they do it there is always the opening. We said it publicly that they have pure speech and so far there is no letter, “Montenegro responded to Central Affairs, when asked what he thinks the businessmen are asking for dialogue.
