He National Council of Trade in Supplies (CNCP), an entity that brings together more than 70 merchant associations in the country, yesterday requested the President Luis Abinadera tax reform “fair, balanced and comprehensive” that favors micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), a matter on which the president – who was present – did not issue statements.
He president-elect of the guild, Jorge Jerezindicated that “for some time now”, the State has needed a tax reform “fair, balanced and comprehensive”, which encourages more and more MSMEs are formalized, which would allow their operations to be transparent and recorded.
After assuming the union presidency in celebrating his twenty-fourth anniversaryJerez advocated that a reform be analyzed “that establishes proportional taxes “according to the scale of each company.” This would lead to contributions to the treasury being greater in accordance with the capacity of each company.
He also indicated that this would help significantly reduce the fiscal deficitvalued at 280,573.3 million pesos in the project of General State Budget Law 2026 –equivalent to 3.2% of the gross domestic product (GDP)–.
Imports
The executive recognized that the current administration has taken measures that have promoted the formalization and generated new growth opportunities.
However, he specified that it is necessary to create “new, more modern and practical provisions for the management of imports of the main items, in order to achieve the equitable participation of the sectors of trade and raising the level of competitiveness for the benefit of consumers.”
Monotribute
Jerez indicated that the monotribute -a simplified regime of taxes designed for small taxpayers– has been proposed as an alternative that encourages more companies to formalize.
“The possibility has also been raised that there is a monotribute for the MSMEs. That is why (the reform) has to be comprehensive, so that the different voices are heard. sectors and their opinions are taken into account,” he stressed.
Contributions to the economy
For his part, the Minister of IndustryCommerce and MSMEsVíctor -Ito- Bisonó, also a participant in the event, valued the dynamism of the commercial sector in the economy, which generates 61% of national employment, contributing nearly 32% of the gross domestic product (GDP) to the economy and promoting the growth of MSMEs.
He recalled that programs have been carried out to support this segment, such as the regulation of more than 54,000 businesses through the Single Formalization Windowholding more than 5,000 meetings through commercial rounds and training more than 1,000 entrepreneurs.
Finally, the outgoing president of the CNCP, Alberto Lerouxsummarized the main achievements at the head of the union.
