Entrepreneurs and industrialists demand that the economic cabinet develop a public-private agenda and work in a coordinated manner in favor of the industrial development of La Paz.

The president of the Departmental Chamber of Industry of La Paz (Cadinpaz), Pablo Camacho, demanded the need for a meeting with economic authorities to find solutions that allow the department to return to industrial leadership.

He explained that La Paz has enviable climatological and geographical conditions, but something that affects its development is the high degree of conflict that drives away internal and foreign investments.

Cadinpaz sought to reach agreements with the government, the municipalities of the metropolitan area, but a meeting with the government is pending to work together on the reactivation of industry and commerce, according to the executive.

The manager of the National Chamber of Commerce (CNC), Gustavo Jáuregui, pointed out that it is necessary to generate a consensual public-private work agenda.

This could generate uncertainty in the country’s formal business sector.

For the CNC it is important to generate certainty, certainty and trust in economic agents, mistrust reduces growth and innovation.

“Investment, entrepreneurship and employment are strengthened when companies and the Government, employers and workers, producers of goods and services and consumers trust each other”, he pointed out.

The Chamber affirmed the need for the Government to establish a platform for public-private dialogue, which promotes generating timely and impactful economic measures to strengthen the business climate in our country with greater legal security for investments.

“In this area, the role of the ministers of the economic area will be preponderant to achieve the goals that are going to be set and these contribute to better economic and social indicators for the country,” said Jáuregui.

technical office

Although no changes are foreseen for the moment after a year of administration by the President of the State, Luis Arce, analysts observe the need to try to maintain a cabinet of ministers with a technical profile.

Economist Rolando Morales was of the opinion that most of the Ministries should have a technical profile rather than a political one.

He highlighted the leadership carried out by the Minister of Economy, Marcelo Montenegro, since the economy began to react.

However, he said that in the productive part some adjustments are needed and above all a better monitoring of the management of public companies.

Morales considered that in Planning there is a lack of an operational arm and greater coordination with the regions is needed, and in Rural Development and Lands, management with specialized professionals is demanded.

The economist Fernando Romero agreed that the ideal and sensible thing is for the ministers of the economic area to have a more technical profile and be chosen based on their professional capacity.

However, he said that in practice the opposite happens because the political and partisan aspect has a great influence.

He added that the social sectors related to the MAS ask for a change of ministers, but the issue must be thoroughly analyzed and the results observed.
