Francisco Pollock: A life at the service of the Flour Industry
Don Paco, born on the neighboring island of Puerto Rico, emigrated with his family to Santo Domingo in 1972. Since then, he has worked hard for the development and growth of the flour industry sector.
As an entrepreneur, Francisco Pollock was characterized by his innovation and the use of a model of diversification in the market, it was with this concept that Panificadora Moderna was created, a company in the flour sector that is defined by the quality of its products and their variety, such is the case of the well-known Dollys Products in their different presentations and varieties, which are distributed nationwide through different businesses. Currently the bakery has approximately 100 collaborators, who support their families thanks to the opportunity that the company has offered them.
A visionary man, passionate, lover of justice, defender of good causes and revolutionary when the moment required it, he was one of the people who believed in the flour sector, which led him to be part of the founders of the Union of Medium and Small Flour Industrialists, UMPIH, institution that was initially installed in its bakery which served as an administrative and operational office without receiving any payment and with the selfless collaboration of the staff of its bakery, after 34 years of its creation, the Umpih continues to defend the rights of the sector.
Three years later, in 1991, he was part of the founding team of the Flour Processing Multiple Services CooperativeCOOPROHARINA and their participation has been of great support for the survival of the sector Flour processor from the Dominican Republic.
Today, UMPIH-COOPROHARINA joins in the pain felt by his wife, children and all his loved ones, due to his death.
