Santo Domingo.- A businessman and writer proposes the elimination of layoff considering it as a double-edged sword that attacks employers and entrepreneurs and those who make up their work teams.
Lorenzo Gómez Marín, in his book presented on December 26 in the auditorium of his company Logomarca, The Labyrinths of Entrepreneurs and Labor Relations, indicates that unemployment negatively affects the GDP of both the country and the company and “ “Nobody notices.”
“If you are an employer, unemployment is your sword of Damocles (1) and you know it; If he is an employee, it is the same, but he does not know it,” says Gómez Marín on page 102 in the chapter titled Layoff: difficult negotiation.
When exposing the difficulties of unemployment, Gómez Marín establishes in his book: “Unemployment limits salary penetration, since you have to think about the reserve to cover liabilities; Sometimes (layoff…) stagnates the employee and can even pervert him; “It reduces the company’s capacity for action and prevents salary improvement.”
It indicates that layoff produces a toxic dynamic between employer and employee, being an active agent of inefficiency that corrodes the efficiency of the company and employee, who does not perform but does not leave either and alleges that the employer does not evict him so as not to pay severance and Hell is created between the two.
Alternatives to unemployment
Gómez Marín proposes establishing an increase in the minimum wage, which he believes will also improve job performance, and creating a trust fund without the risk of it being lost in the hands of corrupt institutions to cover post-unemployment periods and offer quality assurance. of life when you don’t have a job.
He explains that the funds for this program would come from a joint purpose in which the employer, employee and Social Security would be the contributors.
It also proposes establishing an indexation guarantee at each salary level depending on inflation and increasing employee participation in the company’s profits.
