Businesses in Puebla project a 50% increase in sales before the start of the next school year

Puebla, Pue. After the Summer Vacationwill start the sale of School Suppliesfor which the businesses expect an increase in income of up to 50%, since the classes in the next cycle will be in person, which will force families to make a higher expense because it implies the purchase of footwear and reports.

The president of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Canaco Servytur) in Puebla, Marco Antonio Prósperi Calderón, said that families will inevitably have to buy everything their children will need, at least some things, especially school supplies lists.

He stated that after more than two years of pandemic and that for the parents it meant savings and for the school supply businesses, shoe stores and uniforms an economic loss, now the panorama will be different.

In this context, he asked some of his 7,000 partners who have businesses related to school supplies not to raise prices or only what is necessary, to the extent that it does not affect families who must allocate an expense for one to two children.

He indicated that the average expense will range between 4,000 and 5,000 pesos, although it could be more in the case of private schools or that they must acquire a computer, laptop or mobile tablet, devices that they take out on credit so as not to complicate spending.

He commented that the stationery businesses will have to wait until the date of the start of the school year approaches to determine if they will restock merchandise or not, due to the covid-19 pandemic.

Prósperi Calderón indicated that in this previous context it implies that they cannot place orders, which the suppliers know, who are aware that this is the situation and neither of them can afford to lose.

He admitted that it will be difficult for there to be promotions or discounts for back to school, since the stationery, backpacks, shoes and uniforms sector must take advantage of the moment of achieving good sales, although not by raising prices.

He commented that when the time comes for the strong sale, the businesses involved must dialogue so that there is fair competition and request the support of the municipal authorities to prevent informal vendors from returning to the Historic Center area, from which it was possible to remove in the present administration after three trienniums with this problem.
