Business associations express concern about closures and inspections in Miraflores

Various business associations that bring together micro, small, medium and large companies expressed their deep concern about the recent wave of closures and inspection actions that have been affecting formal businesses in the district of Mirafloresaccording to a public statement released this Thursday.

In the document, representatives of the private sector such as Comex Perú, Aspan, Accep, Cámara Ferretera del Perú, MUP, Ahora Perú, APEB, Asociación de Empresarios de Gamarra, Unión de Gremios y Asociaciones de Restaurantes del Perú, Asociación de Bodegueros del Perú, among others, warn that the simultaneity and scope of the interventions have generated concern among businessmen, particularly with regard to the equitable and non-selective application of the measures adopted by the municipal authorities.

The unions reaffirmed their commitment to compliance with municipal, health and safety regulations, emphasizing that formality and respect for current regulations constitute essential pillars of business activity. However, they stressed that all inspection actions must be executed under criteria of proportionality, reasonableness and predictability, fundamental principles in administrative matters.

Likewise, they pointed out that the closure of establishments, being the most severe sanction within the municipal regulatory framework, should be applied only in the face of duly accredited serious non-compliance, and always in strict compliance with due procedure.

The statement also emphasizes the importance of legal security and regulatory stability, conditions considered essential for the sustainable development of economic activities, especially for small and medium-sized businesses, which represent a key component in job creation.

“Order and formality are built with clear rules, fair treatment and permanent dialogue between authorities and the private sector,” highlights the statement, which also warns that the stability of the business environment directly impacts the economy of thousands of Peruvian families.

As is known, in recent weeks, the municipality of Miraflores has intensified control and inspection operations in different commercial areas, in line with the municipal supervision powers related to operating licenses, safety certifications and compliance with health standards. These interventions are usually part of urban planning policies and verification of safety conditions in public service premises.
