Bus without brakes causes multiple collisions and several deaths in Ticuantepe

At 6:40 in the morning of this Tuesday, October 29, exactly at kilometer 19 of the Ticuantepe-La Concepción highway, after going down the El Corozo slope, in front of the Nuestra Señora del Socorro School, located in Ticuantepe, a bus on the La Concepción-Managua route, yellow, plates GR-16260, began to have brake failures and began to run over the vehicles in its path until hitting a mechanics workshop.

The heavy vehicle, according to the detail seen in a security camera at the Nuestra Señora del Socorro School, first hit three motorcycles, a motorcycle taxi, a sedan-type car, broke a concrete pole of the power line and finally stopped upon impact. in a mechanics workshop.

The bus was driven by Jovanny Ramón Blandón García, 48 years old, and was carrying 70 passengers, all members of the Evangelical Doctrina Viva de Jesús church of Masatepe, Masaya, whom he was taking to an activity that would take place in Villa Libertad, Managua.

Two people dead and several injured

The National Police, through official media, confirmed that the multiple collision caused by the bus left two people dead at the scene and at least nine people with serious injuries, who were transferred to the Hospital Amistad México-Nicaragua, in Ticuantepe. .

One of the fatalities was Police Sub-Inspector Carlos Martín Salmerón Fonseca, 39, who was traveling on the Genesis brand motorcycle, blue, license plates CZ-16535.

Also, María Monstserrat López Marenco, 32 years old, who was traveling as a passenger in a red Bajaj motorcycle taxi, plates M-118558, driven by Guillermo Montiel Lorío, 43 years old.

The Hyundai car, red in color, plates CZ-20393, which was practically crushed by the bus, which dragged it until it crashed against the mechanics workshop and the concrete pole of the power lines, was driven by Hamyrich Francisco García Palacios, 39 years. Yorlin Ariela Espinoza Mercado, 37, and Carlos José Hernández González, 39, were traveling in the vehicle. They all suffered injuries and required transfer to the Amistad Hospital in Ticuantepe.

In addition, it collided with two other motorcycles, with drivers still of unknown identity. One of these, the Police confirmed, was taken to the Amistad Hospital in Ticuantepe, and the other, from what can be seen on the security cameras of the Nuestra Señora del Socorro School, was able to get up after the impact of the heavy vehicle.

The owner of that business, José Antonio Sánchez, told official media that fortunately at the time of impact there were no people in the place, although in the neighboring business – also a mechanics business – there were two people, who if the bus had continued moving probably I would have crushed them.
