Bus returning from Copacabana overturns and leaves 13 people injured in La Paz

At least 13 people are injured as a result of the overturning of a bus in the La Portada area (Peace). The motorcycle was returning from Copacabana and had mechanical problems, according to the Traffic Police report.

“The injured, a total of 13 people, the majority are polycontusions”, reported the General Supervisor of the Police, Lieutenant Colonel Carlos Pardo, who indicated that the incident was allegedly due to failures in the brakes.

The transit event also affected a public lighting pole, since the bus hit that object and then overturned. “I’ve been scared I was going down and one just did not obey the brake and at the moment I had to turnbecause if the brake does not obey further down, it would have been worse (the accident),” the driver said.

The wounded were evacuated to the La Portada hospital. The accident occurred at 10:20 p.m. on Monday and involves a Mercedes-brand bus that was carrying 29 passengers.according to the Chief of Traffic, Colonel Walter Sosa.
