The Municipality of Cerro Largo analyzes sanctioning vehicle owners whose drivers throw furniture, debris, appliances or other bulky waste in the vicinity of the dump trucks.
The problem is that, although there is a free collection service of this type of waste through 092-200-400, some neighbors continue to deposit them improperly. “The containers are not dumps, and there are services available to withdraw these waste without generating disorder in public roads,” they said from the commune.
According to what is announced by the person in charge of collection of waste from the municipal service, Gabriel Billafán, the new decree to study plans to sanction not only the vehicle that transferred the waste, but also to the owner of the register where the offender resides. However, its implementation would require reinforcement in environmental inspection.
From the Intendance they consider that the best solution is to eliminate the special collection service and hold each citizen for the correct disposal of their waste. In that sense, neighbors are urged to use the green line or hire private containers when they perform works or changes of furniture.
