Starting this year, the schools of the province of Buenos Aires will have one more hour of class this, given that, the Buenos Aires Government made official this Tuesday its adherence to the national program to extend the school day.
In this way, more than 650 educational institutions throughout the province they will extend their schedule, as they will add one more hour of class; while others 261 schools They will go from having a single day to a full day.
As indicated by the Government of Buenos Aires through its Official Gazette, where it formalized the measure, “The transformation from a single day to a full day will be carried out prioritizing those schools with socio-educational vulnerability”.
The measure reaches both urban and rural institutions of 120 Buenos Aires municipalitiesboth in the metropolitan area and in the interior, and is established with the aim that students can reinforce their studies in mathematics, language and science.
According to what is established in the national program, by the end of 2023, the schools will have incorporated 40 more days of classes of the 190 planned in the annual calendar.
The measure of the Buenos Aires Government highlights that “the extension of the day to 25 hours of weekly classes will be carried out in all single-day state management schools in conditions to implement said extension.”
At the time they remarked that “a longer class time contributes positively to the probability of promoting the year of study and the acquisition of learning, strengthening the educational trajectories of the students at the primary level“.
17 provinces have joined the national program
This year, the Ministry of Education of the Nation, began an arduous task in order to establish agreements with each of the provinces to extend the school day, to reinforce the knowledge of areas of knowledge that are fundamental, after the educational quality decreased after the coronavirus pandemic.
In this sense, the Government has signed agreements with 17 provinces, which have gradually begun to implement the measure. The objective is to guarantee a minimum floor of 25 hours per week in the institutions state primaries which implies 38 more days of school per year.
