Buenos Aires joined the signing of the Compensation Fund for public transport

The Minister of Transport, Alexis Guerrera; and Governor Axel Kicillof; two agreements were signed in La Plata.

The Minister of Transport, Alexis Guerrera; and the governor of the province of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof; signed this Wednesday in La Plata two agreements, one that formalizes the transfers of the Compensation Fund that aims to guarantee quality public transport and the another that cedes a railway property to the provincial orbit after 37 years.

At the seat of the government, Guerrera and Kicillof, together with the provincial Minister of Transport, Jorge D’onofrio; and the secretary of Interjurisdictional Articulation, Marcos Farina; signed the agreement that signs the transfer of the Compensation Fund for the months of January, February and March of this year.

In this way, “under the premise of promoting federalism and equal treatment between the different jurisdictions of the country, the national government provides greater equity in the distribution of resources and guarantees the operation of efficient and quality public transport, in this specific case, to each person from Buenos Aires,” said sources from the Transportation portfolio.

Thus, the province of Buenos Aires joined that of Catamarca as the first to adhere to the agreement that formalizes economic assistance that seeks to bring relief to passengers who use urban and suburban public transportation on a daily basis.

Later, Guerrera and the Buenos Aires president signed another agreement that ceded the railway property of the Gambier neighborhood of La Plata to the provincial orbit, after 37 years.

Cession of a railway property

Its reestablishment and refoundation will allow to establish there entities linked to the provincial public administration and also to project future works linked to transit.

In that sense, Guerrera affirmed that “this work will bring the connectivity that La Plata needsfrom a place that is currently practically drowned by abandonment, but that with the request of President Alberto Fernández, the management of Axel Kicilof, the effort of the head of the Chamber of Deputies, Sergio Massa, who has mediated to make it possible And quickly, it’s restored to where it belongs after 37 years.”

In addition, regarding the prospect of the property, the minister considered that “in this way, La Plata can begin to realize this dream of the administrative city, and there is also other projects that can be done, such as the university, habitat and housing plansand that allows the provincial public administration to work in adequate conditions”.

For its part, kicillof pointed out that “These lands are really what comes to complete the La Plata building project, so imagine the importance they have for the city and for us it is a truly historic day. It had been ceded with many other buildings and land back in the 80s and they were recovered for the Province”.

The objective of the framework agreement, which has two years validity from your subscription, andestablishes the collaboration between the Nation and the province to work on the space of the former Gambier railway workshops that, through the installation of entities of the provincial public administration, will result in significant money savings and, at the same time, by its location, will allow to project a future trace towards route 2which would structure the western area of ​​the city, and would improve traffic by decongesting the downtown area.
