He Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) reported that the Congressional Budget Commission approved by majority the opinion of the Public Sector Budget Bill for Fiscal Year 2026. With this, the opinions of Budget, Financial Balance and Debt 2026 are ready to be debated next week in the Plenary Session of Congress.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Denisse Miralles, highlighted that the budget, exceeding S/257 billion, guarantees fiscal sustainability and the continuity of essential services such as health, education, security, social protection and connectivity.
“From this government of Transition and Reconciliation, led by President José Jerí, we thank the Budget Commission and its technical teams for these days of intense and collaborative work. This is a joint effort to leave a country with clear rules, stability and confidence to continue growing,” he indicated.
The MEF highlighted that this step constitutes a decisive step forward to consolidate a responsible and results-oriented budget process. The project also incorporates a territorial perspective, allocating more than S/59 billion to regional governments and S/34 billion to local governments, with the aim of ensuring the continuity of works, improving services and strengthening care in all regions of the country.
